A memecoin is a cryptocurrency whose primary value proposition is culture — a meme, a mascot, an inside joke, a community — rather than a technical utility. Dogecoin started it; thousands followed.
Memecoins are highly speculative and extremely volatile. Their value comes almost entirely from attention and community belief, which can appear and vanish quickly. Never put in more than you can afford to lose.
