What is Shell Company?

A business that exists on paper with no real operations — legal, but a scammer favorite.

A shell company is a legally registered business with no employees, office, or real activity. Shell companies are perfectly legal and have legitimate uses — holding assets, planning mergers, protecting intellectual property.

They're also a classic tool for hiding money, dodging taxes, and laundering funds, because they can obscure who really owns and controls the money. That's when they cross from 'tax planning' into 'crime.'

CowDog's '$BUSINESS Holdings LLC' is, legally speaking, a joke. Some other people's holding companies are less funny.
